Display Hidden Drivers

There are times when you'll need to manually remove old, obsolete, hidden (phantom) drivers from your system. Looking in Device Manager does not show all the installed drivers, just the ones that are configurable by the GUI. To show all the drivers, just follow these steps:

 1. Click on the Start button and select 'Settings->Control Panel'
 2. Double-click on the 'System' icon
 3. Select the 'Advanced' tab the click on the 'Environment
    Variables' button
 4. In the System Variables section click on the 'New' button
 5. In the Variable Name box type in 'devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices'
 6. In the Variable Value box type in '1'
 7. Click 'OK' then 'OK' again
 8. Open the System icon again from step 1 and select the 'Hardware'
tab then click on the 'Device Manager' button
 9. In the 'View' menu click on 'Show Hidden Devices'
